June 5-8, 2008 Writing the Rockies Western State College Gunnison, Colorado "We have an outstanding faculty, as usual, with a keynoter who was a favorite when he appeared with us a few years ago. Max McCoy is an award-winning novelist, journalist, and screenwriter. He is the author of fourteen novels, including four original Indiana Jones adventures for Lucasfilm. His fiction debut, The Sixth Rider, was named best first novel by the Western Writers of America. Publishers Weekly called The Moon Pool an "intelligent thriller…tightly drawn characters, a vile villain and a satisfying, thought-provoking conclusion make this a compelling read." As an investigative reporter, he has won accolades for his stories on serial killers and hate groups. His next book is I, Quantrill, which will be released in May 2008 by Signet. He teaches journalism at Emporia (Kan.) State University. We hope you will consider joining us this year. As always, the workshop promises to be fun, exciting, invigorating, inspiring, motivating and just downright good for the soul deep in the heart of Colorado's fantastic central Rocky Mountains." June 10-14, 2008 The Western Writers of America Annual Convention Chaparral Suites Scottsdale, Arizona Max will accept his Spur award for best paperback original for Hellfire Canyon, published in 2007 by Pinnacle.
