The Tallgrass Writing Workshop is this weekend at Emporia State. This year, we’re having film historian Courtney Joyner with us from Hollywood to talk about writing, screenwriting, and classic westerns. Also scheduled to appear: Roy Bird, author and former state librarian; Caleb J. Ross, a writer and digital provocateur; Jeremy Wild, an author and retired professor of literature; Amy Sage Webb, co-director of the creative writing program at Emporia State; Mark Boutin, a crime writer and retired FBI agent; and Patsy Terrell, a blogger and freelance writer.
Registration begins at 8 am Saturday, June 1, on the fourth floor of Plumb Hall on the ESU campus. At 6:30 pm Saturday, there will be a discussion of western films with Joyner at the Emporia Arts Center, 815 Commercial, following by a book signing and reception at 8. Although preregistration for the workshop is closed, there are still some walk-in seats available.
